The Publications’ Department of the Museum "Lychnostatis" in collaboration with the Municipality of Hersonissos published the book of George Markakis “RECYCLING GREEN : A MANUAL of PLANT COMPOST & FERTILIZING”.

George Markakis, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and founder of the Museum "Lychnostatis" introduces us in the world of recycling plant substances, emphasizes its importance for both nature and humanity and takes us to the field of ecology applied in daily practice. The Museum "Lychnostatis" implements the recycling practices presented in the book and holds a multitude of activities related with the natural science, the non-consuming movement and the respect for the environment.

The publication of the book was supported by the Municipality of Hersonissos, who has developed innovative practices in waste management and initiated pioneering actions for the protection of the environment. The Mayor of Hersonissos Zacharias  Doxastakis forwards: “Considering the originality and the special value of the book and its contribution to the promotion of the idea of ​​recycling, the City Council unanimously decided  to support this initiative”.
